If you are the richest man in the world by far, then you can afford to be obsessed by time travel and to pay for that obsession. To convince a cynical world that he has solved the secrets of travelling through time, Howard Anderson plans a voyage to a world populated by dinosaurs so that he can return to the present day with one of the creatures a sproof of his success.

 As might have been predicted, things go wrong in the most catastrophic way imaginable and Anderson and his fellow time travellers find themselves in the decaying world that is planet Earth a hundred million years into the future and populated by ferocious mutant creatures.
